Damn this is the first time I've ever watched Japanese wrestling and it is intense! Kana/Asuka Chan is tough and fought well! Respect
This was one of the matches that sold me on Kana way before she entered WWE. I thought to myself, man, she is amazing, but she'd never make it in WWE because of the language barrier and her looks (the standard WWE "diva" aesthetic). And here we are. RAW Women's Champion! I am GLAD she proved me so wrong! She's a true gem!
But now she's getting the worst opponents and they are deliberately making her reign boring.

I love Kana’s 2 headscisdors/armbar combinations after the 11 &. 14 minute marks and the octupus hold after the 15 minute mark. She fought valiantly even in losing. A very competitive & spirited match.

Let’s not kid each other about whether the natch was predetermined or not. It was mixed nartial arts including swrestling, boxing & kicking regardless if it was staged. Abd it was competitive as they both traded moves & blows and kept oace with each other throughout the whole match.

Kana shows incredible courage and fighting spirit in all of her matches regardless of wether she wins or loses. She's a superb wrestler.

It's a tossup for me between Kana and Io Sharai. Previous generation I would also include Manami Toyota and Madusa Miceli (I would love to see Madusa compete in this generation with her mix of size and strength and ability). So glad they are letting Asuka be dominant again

@@itree4 It's close for me - I do think Asuka is better with the mike and her persona - but when it comes to pure wrestling I give a very slight edge to Io - as much because she incorporated the lucha libre style into her game, giving her a bit more variety. I will add that we will never know how great a wrestler Kimura could have been since she took her own life in May (as a result of cyberbullying) - she was extremely popular in Japan - so much so that even the Prime Minister took note of her passing - and even Nia Jax, Ronda Rousey and Mick Foley paid tribute. (I'm still a little stunned that none of the other Japanese wrestlers in the US said one word)

As being a Japanese, Asuka(kana) is doing normal Japanese style wrestling in this video recorded long time ago.
For no reason, we didn’t find any good point in American ENTERTAINMENT wrestling style back then. Thats why kana was doing this, and except this there was no way for any female wrestlers to survive. Now, we love watching entertainment wrestling as well as u guys do & used to, and u guys start arguing whats real bout in professional wrestling business. I believe its because of internet technology, and thanks to sharing movies like this youtube, i think its a good sign bc it implies both sides wrestlers can find their own place in both sides making this business bigger and successful.

Kana is definitely good, very tough and can hang in the ring but a worked-shoot like this requires a lot of suspension of disbelief. At one point she took a straight right to the jaw and got back up, even if it wasn't mixed gender if one fighter who outweighs his opponent by at least 30 pounds hits his opponent like that it should knock him out.

Exactly! Some people lose their mind because it's woman vs man match. Kana has high in ring abilities (just like any other good wrestler), she can deliver fun to watch moves and sell her opponents moves (just as any other good wrestler), she is has high stamina (just as any other good wrestler) and is no afraid to take a hit or a bump (just as any other good wrestler). In this match her opponent is not female wrestler, but a male wrestler. Who cares? They delivered a fun to watch, entertaining match. Congrats to both of them.
And I am not an indy mark or anything, all WWE fan right here and it is fun watching Kana kick butt especially with the males. These stupid idiots "no pun intended" who complain either missing a lobe of their brain or stupid just comes natural to them. She is the whole reason I watch NXT because of in ring work like this. This women brought back the passion I had for wrestling and good in ring work and character I had 10 years ago. She is just simply the best.

Ikr, thank you. Some people don't know how sexist they're being with being so negative about it too. I mean, yeah in Japan, sometimes male wrestlers will be selfish about it and not even sell for their female opponents and the female wrestlers might restrain themselves a bit to ensure they get a beating because that's what they consider their rite of passage to be a legend (still really weird for me because of the dom/sub dynamic) but at the end of the day, they're matches that are full of spirit and drive because they're real matches from equal opponents. I mean, they were technical as hell at it too. It showcases their skills and is entertainment. Both fighters earn my respect.
You people believe this? this is not "real fight" like most wrestling, they show pin technique, but when that guy hit that girl he is not hit her with full power, cant you see fake reaction? its only to put up good show

Funny. People are up in arms about Nia Jax entering the Rumble. That was mild and safe compared to this. Modern WWE fans couldn't handle this type of intergender wrestling by a long shot.
Asuka is really tough and great at what she does but why does she allow herself to take so much punishment from the males, because not only did Sawa kick the shit outta her, I've seen several other males do the same and they really kick her ass at times with super hard smacks and and kicks, to the point where it's hard to watch.
This is the part of Japanese pro wrestling culture that I still don't understand either. I mean, I get why she does it but i'm sure there's still some sort of discrepancy in weight class or if the joshi girls restrain themselves more in matches like these idk. I heard in another comment that it was a dom/sub thing everyone agrees on...
